Nomura International plc

Nomura today
Over the last few years, global financial markets have seen fundamental change. For us, it’s been for the better. We have used this period to build our global franchise. In 2008, we acquired the Lehman Brothers operations in Europe and Asia; meanwhile, in North America, we expanded in every business area, attracting hundreds of top professionals from across the market. We have a clear vision of being a leading global investment bank, and we are investing in our company to make it happen.

Our heritage in this industry goes back over 80 years. Nomura’s franchise has always been characterized by a real sense of co-operation, teamwork and support. Since 1925 we have had real strength in Asia, and this is something that continues to set us apart. Today we are a growing, global business that is distinct and unique because of the work we do, the people we have, and the opportunities we face.

There has never been a better time to join Nomura. Many of our people describe it as a ‘ground-floor opportunity’ – and it is. Here you could be helping to shape our performance, to build our capability and to create the 21st century global investment bank.

Internship & graduate opportunities
Internships are the perfect preparation for a subsequent full time role. Nomura will extend full time offers to strong performers to return to the company the following year.

London
Nomura offers a range of fulltime graduate and internship programmes (10 week winter, spring and summer) in three key areas, investment banking, global markets and business infrastructure.

Amsterdam
In addition to the full time graduate programme, Nomura offers throughout the year a 3-months off-cycle internship in its Benelux investment banking division based in Amsterdam. Fluency in both Dutch and English is required.

Who are we looking for?
At Nomura our goal is to attract and develop exceptionally talented people who share our passion for excellence and commitment. We recruit graduates with a high level of academic and extracurricular achievements, who will be able to withstand the rigours of a rapidly changing, demanding but ultimately rewarding environment. Fluency in English is essential while fluency in other languages is advantageous.

We assess candidates using a range of key competencies, which include:

  • Problem solving
  • Analytical skills
  • Teamwork
  • Leadership
  • Communication skills
  • Professional presence
  • Initiative

All of these competencies are equally weighted and we look for evidence of these in your CV, cover letter and throughout the interview process. We accept applications from all disciplines but you must show a numerate track record, have an interest in finance, and have a strong desire to work in the investment banking industry.
